Women’s Lenten Retreat: “Practical Advice for Everyday Spiritual Life”
Drawing from the teachings of modern saints, ancient monastic elders, and personal encounters, Dr. Lockwood emphasized that the spiritual life begins and ends with faith understood as total trust in God. He reflected on how humility—complete surrender to God’s will—attracts divine grace and allows every person, whether living in a monastery or in the world, to grow in holiness. Through vivid stories and pastoral wisdom, he reminded the participants that one can become a saint anywhere, even in the midst of daily challenges, by embracing meekness, patience, thanksgiving, and trust in God.
Following the presentation, attendees enjoyed a warm time of hospitality and food, sharing fellowship and conversation. The afternoon concluded with a presentation of Dr. Lockwood’s book, Type and Symbols, giving participants the opportunity to learn more about his work and engage further with the themes discussed.
The Sisters of the Western American Auxiliary extend their gratitude to all who attended and helped make this retreat a spiritually enriching and memorable gathering.
