The Fourth Sunday of Great Lent in Las Vegas
On the Fourth Sunday of Great Lent, March 22, 2026, when the Church commemorates St. John Climacus, the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Church of St. Simeon the Myrrh-flowing in Las Vegas by His Eminence Archbishop of Los Angeles and the Western American Diocese, Maxim, concelebrated by Priests Milan Unkovic and Ozren Todorovic, with the participation of the faithful of the Las Vegas parish.
In his pastoral homily, Bishop Maxim addressed the gathered faithful on the Gospel passage concerning the healing of the demon-possessed boy, citing the words of Christ:
“This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting” (Mk 9:29).
The Bishop emphasized that earthly food is temporary and belongs to a perishable reality, carrying with it death and corruption, while fasting is a spiritual struggle through which we come to understand that our natural source of life is not food alone, but the Lord Himself. He also highlighted the importance of prayer as a turning point in our lives, which helps us in the struggle against evil forces—something that is possible only with God’s help.
Following the Divine Liturgy, a lenten fellowship meal was prepared in the church hall, organized by the Circle of Serbian Sisters (KSS). Bishop Maxim then visited the construction site of the new church dedicated to St. Simeon the Myrrh-flowing.
On the previous day, Saturday, March 21, Bishop Maxim delivered two lectures at the Greek Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist as part of the annual Lenten retreat organized by the Orthodox clergy of Las Vegas, on the theme “The Cross in Our Lives.”
The lectures were very well attended, and the participants—many of whom have recently embraced the Orthodox faith—engaged in a lively and meaningful dialogue with the Bishop through their thoughtful and sincere questions.
The pan-Orthodox gathering concluded with Vespers on Sunday, held at the Serbian Church of St. Simeon, followed by a dinner in the church hall organized by the parish women of the Circle of Serbian Sisters.

Четврта недеља Великог поста у Лас Вегасу
У четврту недељу Великог поста, 22. марта 2026. године, када Црква прославља спомен на Светог Јована Лествичника, свету архијерејску Литургију у храму Светог Симеона Мироточивог у Лас Вегасу служио је Архиепископ лосанђелески и западноамерички г. Максим, уз саслужење јереја Милана Унковића и Озрена Тодоровића, уз учешће верног народа парохије у Лас Вегасу.
Епископ Максим се пастирском беседом обратио сабраним верницима на тему јеванђељског одељка о исцељењу бесомучног и речима Христовим: „Овај се род ничим не може изгнати до молитвом и постом“.

Епископ је истакао да је земаљска храна пролазна и припада пропадљивој стварности, носећи са собом смрт и трулежност, док је пост подвиг у коме разумевамо да наш природни извор живота није само храна, него Сам Господ. Такође је нагласио значај молитве као преокрета у нашем животу, која нам помаже у победи над злим силама, што је једино могуће уз помоћ Божију.
Након Свете Литургије, у црквеној сали приређена је трпеза љубави у организацији Кола српских сестара. Епископ Максим је потом обишао радове на новом храму посвећеном Светом Симеону Мироточивом.
Дан раније, у суботу 21. марта, епископ Максим је одржао два предавања у Грчкој православној цркви Светог Јована Крститеља у оквиру годишњег великопосног духовног сабора у организацији православних свештеника из Лас Вегаса, на тему „Крст у нашим животима“.
Предавања су била веома посећена, а учесници — од којих су многи недавно пришли православној вери — својим отвореним и важним питањима развили су са епископом живи и садржајан дијалог.
Свеправославно сабрање завршено је вечерњим богослужењем у недељу, које је одржано у Српској цркви Светог Симеона, као и вечером у црквеној сали коју су организовале парохијанке Кола српских сестара.
