Meeting of the Diocesan Council of the Diocese of Western America
On Tuesday, February 26, 2019 the Diocesan Council of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Western America, under the omophorium of His Grace Bishop Maxim, held it’s semi-annual meeting at the Saint Steven’s Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Alhambra, California.
The meeting was held on the first day of the Sts. Sebastian & Mardarije Orthodox Institute, making it convenient for council members to also attend the events of the three-day Institute.
This year the council members welcomed their new Vice-President, Debra Tasic and Treasurer, Shari Blagojevic, as well as several newly elected clergy and lay members.
During the meeting plans for the Diocesan Annual Assembly, Diocesan Days, and the celebration of the 800th Anniversary of the Autocephaly of the Serbian Orthodox Church were among the topics discussed.
The monograph, The Serbian Christian Heritage of America, prepared under the leadership of His Grace Bishop Maxim, and published in honor of the 800th Anniversary of the Autocephaly of the Serbian Orthodox Church, was available for all of the council members to view. Ron Radakovich, diocesan council Adviser. and recent interim Vice President, gave a report on the successful fundraising efforts for this project and had the honor of presenting the final printed publication.
The Diocesan Council members had a productive meeting that prepared the way for an eventful and fruitful year for the Diocese of Western America.
