Farewell & Appreciation Banquet in Alhambra
On Sunday, July 31st, 2022 the parishioners of the Saint Steven’s Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Alhambra, California joined in prayer and fellowship expressing gratitude to Fr. Norman Kosanovich and his family for their years of service to the Cathedral.
With the appointment of Fr. Norman to serve as priest of Saint Sebastian Serbian Orthodox Church in Carson City/Reno, Nevada a special luncheon was prepared in honor of Fr. Norman on his last day of service at the Cathedral.
On this seventh Sunday after Pentecost, His Grace Bishop Maxim concelebrated the Divine Liturgy with V. Rev. Nicholas Ceko, Cathedral Dean, V. Rev. Norman Kosanovich, Assistant Priest, Rev. Vladan Radovanovic, Diocesan Secretary, and the faithful of the Cathedral parish.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Bishop Maxim expressed his gratitude for Fr. Norman’s many years of service at the Cathedral and extended his prayerful wishes for many fruitful years in his new parish. Bishop Maxim concluded by gifting Fr. Norman with an icon of Christ, hand-painted personally by His Grace.
At the banquet Fr. Nicholas Ceko reminisced about their experiences together over the years and conveyed his gratitude and extended best wishes to Fr. Norman and his family in their new parish. The Cathedral President, on behalf of the parish, then presented Fr. Norman with a beautiful set of new vestments for his new position as priest in the St. Sebastian parish.
On this day we also celebrated the 16th Anniversary of the Episcopacy of His Grace Bishop Maxim in the Diocese of Western America. On July 30th, 2006, Bishop Maxim was installed as the hierarch of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Western America. In this first year of service, His Grace established the St. Sebastian Orthodox Press, named in honor of the first American born Orthodox priest, Fr. Sebastian Dabovich. Sebastian Press is one of the prevalent and most dynamic publishers of Christian Orthodox publications on the West Coast and in the USA.
May St. Sebastian pray for us, and for His Grace Bishop Maxim and V. Rev. Protopresbyter Norman Kosanovich as they continue to work and labor in the service of God.
