Diocesan Kolo Srpskih Sestara Celebrates Krsna Slava
On Sunday, December 5, 2021, at the Saint Steven’s Serbian Orthodox Church in Alhambra, California, the Diocesan Sisters of the Kolo Srpskih Sestara celebrated their Krsna Slava, The Entrance of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple. Honoring the Mother of God the SKSS women look to her as an example of Orthodox life, rather than an exception. The work of the women in the Orthodox Church is demonstrated in its many auxiliaries including cooking for the parish, sewing costumes, and raising funds for the monastery.
Protinica Rada Bojovic was honored as Kuma for the Slava to pay tribute to her devotion to the Diocese office, St. Sebastian Press, and her home parish, St. Sava in San Gabriel. In addition to the festal banquet, His Grace Bishop Maxim curated a beautiful art exhibit titled, “Paradox, Revelation, and Surprise” presenting his personal testimony to the art of painting. His Grace allocated all proceeds of the sale of paintings, hand-crafted ornaments, and other artworks to support the Ministry of the Diocesan Kolo Srpskih Sestara. Protinica Rada tirelessly set up all the books and artwork for sale and facilitated the transactions. The Diocesan KSS President Laura Burge chaired the kitchen and made a beautiful salmon lunch. In addition she created fresh flower centerpieces for each table. Tanya Skundric baked desserts and organized delicious confections baked by the parish sisters for all the guests to enjoy on the Saint Steven’s Pavilion.
It was a beautiful Slava, filled with love in this glorious Advent season.
