Bishop Maxim Visits the St. Sava Parish in Jackson, CA
July 19, 2020 – Jackson, CA – On this sixth Sunday after Pentecost 2020 the parish of Saint Sava in Jackson California was blessed by the visit of our hierarch Bishop Maxim. Assisting the Bishop in this Eucharistic gathering was Deacon Dragan Stojanovich along with the local faithful. In anticipation of the “action” which was about to take place that morning, as the deacon proclaims at the onset of the Liturgy “It is time for the Lord to Act…bless master”, this action was the center of the Bishop’s message to the congregation as he exhorted the faithful to embrace the liturgy. Through the action that takes place in the liturgical movement, we receive Christ who is the only super–substantial gift in return for our liturgical offering. Vladika Maxim said that in spite of our difficulties and troubled times, receiving Christ is what really matters in our lives until we can partake of the Lord more profoundly in the never-ending day of our Lord. At the conclusion of the service, the faithful received the Bishop’s blessing and departed in peace. We all wished our Vladika farewell with our love and prayers with the anticipation that another Archpastoral visit would happen soon.
