Kolo Slava Celebration in Saratoga, California
In the beautiful Silicon Valley parish in Saratoga, CA, the St. Michael Women’s Auxiliary (KSS) celebrated its 63rd annual Kolo Slava, Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, Mala Gospojina, on Sunday, September 25, 2022.
It was a truly special celebration this year, where we were blessed by the presence and visit of our beloved Hierarch, His Grace Bishop Maxim, who served the Divine Liturgy with our priest, Very Rev. Fr. Vidoslav Vujasin and Deacon Justin Bosl from Castro Valley, CA, Greek Orthodox Archdiocese.
The Slava kolach was blessed by His Grace right after the Liturgy. With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Maxim, Deacon Justin held an inspirational sermon concluding the Divine Liturgy.
His Grace Bishop Maxim addressed the Saratoga parish members wishing them a soon completion of the Church, with the strong hope that we will celebrate the further Slavas in the wonderful new church building.
The Kolo luncheon was held on the patio under tents. The weather was perfect, the food delicious, and the support from all of our parishioners was overwhelming!!!
It was a very special moment when Fr. Vido greeted some of the present Kolo sisters who founded the Saratoga Kolo of Serbian Sisters 63 years ago, like Mary Bogdanovich, Sophie Gluhaich, Millie Lepava and Angie Gill (Cuk).
Malena Adzich was the chair of this year’s Kolo Slava. She did a great job of planning and organizing a beautiful and memorable event.
Malena was our Kolo President for five years, and we will miss her beautiful spirit, smile and dedication to our Kolo and to our church. We wish you the very best as you follow your heart and calling……God Bless you.
On behalf of the Kolo and himself, Fr. Vido, presented to Malena a beautiful, handpainted Icon of St. Archangel Michael, thanking her for all that she has done for our parish and wishing her well for her spiritual way of salvation.
Malena will soon join the Holy Theotokos the Life Giving Spring Monastery, Dunlap, CA with the wish to become a nun and fully serve Christ and His Church.
This Slava celebration will be remembered as one of the most beautiful Kolo Slava celebrations through the presence of His Grace Bp. Maxim and many parish members who celebrated our wonderful Kolo sisters and their Slava.
May our Lord and God grant our Kolo a bright future with the intercessions of the Most of Holy Theotokos and Ever Virigin Mary who is the Patron Saint of our Kolo! Na mnogaja ljeta!
