Prayer Request for our St. Xenia Skete in Wildwood, California
Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
Dry Lightning Strike Starts Fire in Northern California
His Grace Bishop Maxim asks for your prayers for our nuns in our Serbian Orthodox monastic community of St. Xenia Monastery in Wildwood, California who are now under a mandatory evacuation order.
On Thursday, July 29 at 4:30 pm, a lightning strike started a fire 2 miles south of our St. Xenia Monastery. Today, within one hour, it grew from 30 acres to 100 acres.
Our St. Herman’s Monastery in Platina has not been affected and is in no danger.
Our Diocese has 4 nuns living at the St. Xenia Skete Monastery and 17 monks living at the St. Herman of Alaska Monastery.
Mother Dorothea of the St. Xenia Monastery has asked for our prayers.
Please pray that God may be merciful to them and all in this and other areas affected by devastating calamities.
