Bishop Maxim Visits the Pokrov Church in Seattle, Washington
On Sunday, June 19, 2011, Sunday of All Saints, His Grace, Bishop Maxim served the first hierarchical Liturgy at the Holy Protection of the Theotokos in Seattle, Washington.. It was particularly meaningful for the parish, since our parishioners come from different countries and cultures such as Russia, Byelorussia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Ukraine, the USA and Britain. We were indeed "surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses.."(Hebrews 12:1). We were joined by Protopresbyter Ilyia Balich and parishioners from St Savva, Issaquah and by Fr Nikola Todorovic and parishioners from St Stephen, Portland, OR. After the Liturgy we gathered for trapeza and were entertained with a classical piano recital by children of Pokrov. This was followed by Serbian folksongs, led by His Grace and Russian and Ukraine songs sung by our parishioners. We thank God and His Grace for offering us a spiritual home within the Serbian Archdiocese.
