Pocket Calendar 2014

2014-pocket-calendar-cover 300x471

This high quality, bilingual (English and Serbian) pocket size 2014 calendar with exceptional graphic design is profusely illustrated, with daily and special prayers, a directory of the Western American Diocese of the SOC, a schedule of events, and space for personal notes throughout, is indispensable for an organized Christian living.

In the Divine Liturgy our Church commemorates particular Saints and not saints as a general category. They are commemorated by their respective calendar dates: every individual ascetic and martyr. Only through their uniqueness and irreplaceability can they serve as inexhaustible sources of inspiration to Christians.

For 2014, Calendar illustrations present mosaics from the monasteries of Osios Loukas in Phocis, Nea Moni of Chios, and Daphne near Athens.

Pictorial decorations of these geographically distant, but stylistically similar churches from the 11th and 12th centuries are among the masterpieces of the Middle Byzantine period and European medieval art in general.

We encourage all of our faithful to purchase and use this Calendar in their everyday life.
