FROM BISHOP MAXIM
The Star of the East and our darkness
As the Star of the East shines and passes through the darkness of our human predicament, it leads us toward the enlightenment of our personal consciousness. Very often though, the light of this Star cannot enter our darkness because it is obstructed by the glitter of illusion, the garments of vanity that prevails in our life. But this glitter cannot shine forever. Eventually, the moment of truth will come, the glitter will be dulled and the darkness of our personal life will be revealed. This is when pain makes itself felt and suffering becomes an unavoidable experience. To combat this pain, we will be driven down to use our human resources, resources that slowly will fade away with time, upon which we will realize our impotence. This is the moment of human truth!
At this difficult moment, the Son of Man will come into our cave which is beset with pain and loneliness, and will reveal the image of God that is in the essence of each person’s soul. As He shows us the love of the Father, the Comforter, the Holy Spirit of Truth, He will revive us with the breath of Life, transforming the hour of our pain and darkness into a time full of joy and brightness. Returning to a life of love and humility, we will participate in an intense relationship with God as children and inheritors of His Kingdom. Dispelling the illusions that we have created, we will live as true and free beings within the eternal truth of God’s divine mysteries.
Those that are not able to recognize this moment of truth, who do not see themselves as children of God, will lack the warmth and joy of extreme humility. The darkness and pain of their existence will be unbearable.
